A Sagittarius Triplet
One of my first trips dedicated to itinerant astrophotography, the island of Tenerife occupied mainly by the slopes of the El Teide volcano, 3718 m, renowned as one of the best places to practice astrophotography.
Travel companion, the Vixen Polarie Star tracker with relative accessories, easy and immediate to use, was truly unbeatable also thanks to its small size.
The main subjects I wanted to shoot were three bright nebulae, M8 aka the Lagoon Nebula, M20 aka The Trifid, and NGC 6559. All three are stellar nurseries 5000 lightyears distant, glowing hydrogen gas creates the dominant red of the emission nebulae, with blue hues due to reflected starlight.
For this task my choice were the Nikon D500 (unmodded) and the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 FL lens, that thanks to the crop factor become a 300mm f2.8; perfect choice for this subject.
Classic astronomical elaboration, Pixinsight for stacking and major things follow up to Adobe Photoshop for minor adjustings.
The Results is a final image from the integration of 76×30″ single images.
